My affinity with poetry, which began for me in the year 2006, resulted in the publishing of a book in 2013, titled "In Search of the Divine" Book 1: Awakening. Being connected to a lot of poets worldwide, has led me to appreciate the Oriental approach to writing, specifically the Japanese genre of writing, which I was fortunate to study with expert writer, Michael Dylan Welch (www.graceguts.com), Michael Smeer (https://www.facebook.com/MyHaikuPond). Here to share with you, one of my latest work in a series of tanka, one of the earliest form of Japanese poetry.

brew of mystique
mist afloat right above ground
pearl tears
upon grasses, and moss
have formed, all mixed
with the scent of earth
roaming the placid waters
of a creek
that mirrors the birch trees
there for countless years
sparse now, their leaves
of gold and copper
and the sun appears
with a rare brilliance that dances
upon treetops
and here we lie
you and I at last
mist afire
over our bed of grass
your arms round me so tight
lapping water
and the rhythm of all that jazz
matching our heartbeats
as we lift to another realm
through this brew of mystique
